Connecteam is built specifically for businesses where most employees are in the field rather than at a desk, which describes virtually every trade business. It bundles scheduling, real-time team communication, checklists/forms, and training into a single mobile app that your team actually uses.
What sets it apart from Deputy: Connecteam is broader than just workforce management. The communication module (team chat, announcements, polls) replaces WhatsApp group chats. The forms and checklists module handles safety checklists and daily workflows. The training module lets you onboard new employees with video and quiz-based content, useful for apprentice onboarding and OH&S training.
Where it overlaps with job management: Connecteam is not a job management tool. It doesn't handle quoting, invoicing, or customer-facing workflows. It sits alongside your job management platform (Tradify, ServiceM8) to handle the internal team operations layer.
The free plan is genuinely functional for very small teams, making it one of the few tools in this space with a real no-cost starting point.
