Zapier pioneered no-code automation and remains the most widely used integration platform for small and medium businesses globally. It works on a simple trigger-action model: when something happens in App A (a trigger), do something in App B (an action). For trade businesses, this unlocks automations like sending a follow-up SMS when a quote is delivered, creating a job card when a form is submitted, or adding a contact to an email list when a new customer is created in your CRM.

Strengths: The lowest barrier to automation for non-technical users. The breadth of integrations is unmatched. If two apps exist, there's almost certainly a Zapier integration. Good documentation and a large community of pre-built templates. Free plan covers basic use cases.
Limitations: Zapier becomes expensive at volume. Complex multi-step workflows are more limited and expensive than Make (formerly Integromat). Task limits on paid plans can be restrictive for high-volume automations. Zapier is not ideal for complex logic, data transformation, or API-heavy workflows, Make handles those better.
For trade businesses just starting with automation, Zapier is the right first step. For more complex workflows or high task volumes, Make offers better value.
